Real case studies

Real requests. Practical drone solutions.

These are genuine projects and enquiries completed by Jolly Roger. Client names and precise locations are omitted, but the problems and solutions are real — and may give you an idea you had never considered.

02Future property view

The panorama from exactly 22 metres

The request: Before a building was completed, a client wanted to understand the panorama that would be visible from a future window at a specific point and a requested height of 22 metres.

The solution: The viewpoint was planned and reference photographs were captured at the agreed position and height, while adapting the operation to windy conditions.

ResultThe client could preview the future view before the window and building existed.
03Roof inspection

Checking marks on a gate roof

The request: A property owner noticed marks around the tiles on the rooftop of an entrance gate and wanted to understand what was happening.

The solution: Detailed overhead and angled photographs were captured without anyone climbing onto the structure.

ResultClear close-up evidence that helped the owner decide whether further maintenance or a specialist inspection was necessary.
04Planning & material saving

Measuring a roof before ordering wood

The request: An owner needed the roof area to estimate how much timber was required for a new cover.

The solution: Aerial imagery and visual measurements were used to calculate an indicative surface area for material planning.

ResultThe owner could order closer to the quantity actually needed, reducing unnecessary material cost and waste.
06First flight experience

A young beginner’s first drone lesson

The request: During summer, a young person wanted to discover what it was like to fly a drone.

The solution: A controlled introductory session used a lightweight C0-category drone and covered basic safety, controls, take-off, hovering and landing.

ResultA safe, enjoyable first experience that introduced responsible flying rather than simply handing over the controls.
07Wedding memories

Aerial wedding photography and video

The request: Couples wanted the venue, surroundings and scale of their day captured from a perspective that ground cameras could not provide.

The solution: Aerial photographs and video were planned around the ceremony, venue, guests, weather and safe operating areas.

ResultCinematic establishing views and memorable aerial moments integrated into the wedding story.
08Retail & FPV

One smooth flight through a shop

The request: A shop needed a more engaging way to show its interior, layout and products.

The solution: An FPV drone travelled through the shop and along the shelves in one carefully planned continuous movement.

ResultA smooth, immersive video that lets viewers experience the shop instead of seeing a sequence of disconnected shots.
09Landscape overview

Showing the complete landscape, not only the subject

The request: A client needed a broad visual understanding of a landscape and its surroundings rather than a conventional close-up image.

The solution: The route and camera angles were planned to show terrain, access, scale and environmental context.

ResultA clear visual overview useful for presentation, documentation and explaining a location to people who were not there.

FAQ

What clients usually need to know.

No. Every location is checked for airspace, access, people, safe take-off and landing areas, permissions and operational restrictions before a booking is confirmed.
Yes. Many useful projects begin with an unusual practical problem rather than a request for “drone photography.” Explain what you need to see, measure, compare, inspect or communicate, and Jolly Roger will suggest a realistic approach.
The location, preferred date, intended use, required photos or video, approximate final duration, delivery format and any references that show the desired result.
Aerial work may be rescheduled when wind, rain, visibility or other conditions prevent a safe operation or would significantly reduce the quality of the result.
Indicative areas, volumes and comparisons can be produced from suitable aerial imagery and 3D models. The achievable accuracy depends on the capture method, site access and agreed workflow. Certified or survey-grade results require an explicitly defined professional survey workflow.
Jolly Roger can provide introductory familiarisation using a lightweight C0 drone, focused on safe handling and basic controls. This is a practical first-flight experience, not an official remote-pilot licence course.
Not unless a quotation explicitly includes the required survey workflow. Standard Jolly Roger maps and models are visual products and are not a substitute for a qualified surveyor or engineer.
Yes. Search the Shutterstock and Adobe Stock profiles, or contact Jolly Roger with the location or subject required so the direct archive can also be checked.
